BREAKING: William Byron and Hendrick Motorsports Donate $6.9 Million to Build Homeless Youth Shelter in Rick Hendrick’s Hometown of Clifton, Texas
In a powerful act of gratitude and unity, William Byron and the entire Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR organization have donated $6.9 million to convert a house into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth in Clifton, Texas—the hometown of legendary team owner Rick Hendrick.
The donation comes after Hendrick Motorsports won a national motorsports community impact award, and the team unanimously chose to use the entire prize to honor the man they say has “given everything to the sport and everyone around him.”

A Legacy of Leadership and Loyalty
Rick Hendrick, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and one of the most successful owners in racing history, is known not only for his trackside triumphs but also for his unwavering loyalty to his drivers and crew. His leadership, compassion, and business acumen have guided Hendrick Motorsports to countless victories—but more importantly, he’s built a family-first culture that puts people before trophies.
Driver William Byron, one of NASCAR’s brightest young stars, shared his thoughts during the announcement:
“Mr. Hendrick believed in me when I was still just a teenager with a dream. He’s changed the lives of everyone in this organization. This shelter is our way of saying thank you—and making sure his values live on through real, lasting impact.”

“Hendrick House” to Serve Youth in Need
The shelter, now officially named “Hendrick House”, will be located on a quiet residential property in Clifton, Texas—a small community that holds deep meaning for the Hendrick family. The facility will serve homeless and at-risk youth aged 14–22 and will include:
-
Safe and fully staffed transitional housing
-
Mental health and trauma recovery services
-
Educational support and GED opportunities
-
Job skills training and internship placement
-
Mentorship programs led by local volunteers
-
Healthy meals, recreational space, and life coaching
Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with completion scheduled for winter of that year. The project has received full backing from the Clifton City Council, local nonprofits, and regional youth organizations.

Rick Hendrick: “I’m Humbled Beyond Words”
When presented with the news during a team gathering at Hendrick Motorsports HQ in North Carolina, Rick Hendrick was overcome with emotion.
“I’ve won a lot of races in my life, but nothing compares to this. Knowing that the people I’ve worked alongside for years chose to do something like this in my name—back home in Clifton—that’s something I’ll never forget.”
He continued,
“It’s not just about giving back. It’s about giving hope. That’s what this team has done.”
Small Town, Big Impact
Though Clifton is a small town, the impact of “Hendrick House” will be anything but. Local leaders say the shelter will address a critical need in the region, providing support for youth facing homelessness, family instability, or life after foster care.
Mayor Richard Spitzer praised the gesture:
“Rick Hendrick has always been one of Clifton’s proudest sons. This gift from his team will touch generations. The town is behind this project 100%.”
Nonprofits such as Family Abuse Center of Central Texas and Communities In Schools are expected to partner with Hendrick House to provide programming, staffing, and long-term care services.
Hendrick Motorsports: Leading With Heart
This donation underscores a broader culture at Hendrick Motorsports—one of leadership, loyalty, and giving back. Beyond the race track, the organization has long supported causes related to cancer research, education, and family support. But this latest effort marks one of their most personal and impactful projects to date.
As the 2025 NASCAR season charges ahead, Hendrick Motorsports isn’t just setting the pace on the asphalt—they’re making meaningful change where it’s needed most.
